I found out my intel card doesn't connect with hostapd at 5GHz. I'm searching for a compatible one. I can use either pcie mini or usb, but USB is better so I can keep my existing card and set up a separate 2.4GHz network for the TVs. Anyone have recommendations for usb or mini PCIe wifi adapters that support hostapd in 5GHz? Many Amazon listings claim they work, but they don't specify the chipset details.

This product isn't listed for sale, but you now have guidance on what to search for. The TL-WDN4200, also known as the N900 from TP-link, functions with hostapd.

Thanks. It's definitely a challenging task.

Ensure Archer T4U V2 hostapd is available. Proceed with caution since V3 isn't functioning. Note that Amazon lists it as V2, but users are seeing V3.
