Suddenly I noticed a major drop in download speeds with my back port. I've been using a USB Wi-Fi adapter for 3 to 4 years without any problems until now. (Back USB port) I've experimented with other ports on the back but it didn't help. I tried plugging it into the front USB port. Spoiler: it worked!

Did you change the location of your PC or router, or rearrange anything near them? If yes, the issue is probably due to extra interference from the cables or connections.

Determine if the connection uses 5GHz or 2.4GHz by checking the device settings or network information.

I relocated it to another part of my room, about six feet away. It's odd since this was where I initially set up things around a year ago. I didn't notice any Wi-Fi problems before, but now downloading files feels much more noticeable.

You're all set now. Just shift it back or try the front port.

5GHz is very sensitive to any obstruction in its path. A metal or semi-metal enclosure will definitely reduce your connection speed.
