I possess an outdated WiFi chip that’s been acting up lately. I’m considering a replacement but aren’t sure whether to opt for a m.2, PCIe 3 or 4 card. I thought I’d check if there’s any chance to repair it first. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B550M K, the processor is an AMD Ryzen 5 5500, memory is 16GB DDR4 at 2400 MT/s, the SSD is a PNY CS900 1TB HDD, the GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 550, the power supply is 600 Watts, and the WiFi card link is provided. Operating system is Windows 11 Home; I’m planning to purchase this card now. Thanks for your assistance!

are you using windows or linux? since certain linux setups have a bothersome feature that turns off USB/external wifi adapters for power saving, it might point to a hardware problem—especially with older devices and unknown brands. if you don’t need high speeds, you could check aliexpress for compatible pcie wifi adapters.

Suggest a standard PCIe card design, which fits onto the backplate for simple screw-on aerial connections. M.2 WiFi modules usually have tricky, fragile cables for attaching antennas.

I suggest a PCIe card. Also check for one with antennas connected by a cable. This ensures the antennas are positioned well for optimal signal reception.

Last year I purchased this USB dongle for Wi-Fi—it's decent if you're looking to save money. I'm unsure if it's available on Amazon, but it functions well with my slow home network (a rather disappointing 200 Mbps connection, capped at 8 Mbps).
