Glasswire or Wireshark are the top choices available. Both need you to buy the software, but they’re among the best on the market. If you want a free option for your phone and desktop, just let me know.

You'll likely use Wireshark for analysis, but you're considering checking your Android phone remotely because the computer isn't always available. The software may need to stay active to record network traffic continuously.

I’d choose Glasswire for clear traffic identification if you’re new to it. Wireshark works well when you know what you’re after and can use filters, but if you prefer a straightforward option, Glasswire is the better path.

It seems like you find Wireshark's output confusing and overwhelming.

Maybe but I’m unsure how to reach what a quick search could help with. I don’t really connect with networks, so a clear picture would be really useful.

As @Lurick mentioned, Glasswire is certainly more streamlined. Sadly, few tools match its quality; many you'll encounter will resemble WireShark in appearance.

if something is connected it's in use, data is being sent and received all the time even if you're not using the device. now it could be due to the router not being able to handle a certain amount of connections at the same time if it goes down only when those mobile devices are hooked up to the network the problem could be one of the devices and not ISP's fault. ah the classic, I see that happens all around the world and not just in banana republics, u can't do anything about that
