Using a WiFi range extender with a Cat 6 Ethernet cable might improve speed compared to a standard WiFi card in a PC, but the difference could be minimal depending on setup and environment.

Check if connecting your PC to a Wi-Fi extender using a cable is possible. If direct cabling isn't available, opt for a powerline adapter. Ensure the port supports gigabit speed, not Ethernet.

If you can't obtain a cable from the router, using a connection to a 2.5G Gigabit LAN port might be preferable. A powerline kit allows devices to communicate over electrical wiring instead of cables. It’s a way to extend network reach without extra cabling.

It converts your home's electrical setup into an Ethernet connection (a super simplified version)

The 2.5Gbps connection won't be useful because the Ethernet ports on that device are only 10/100Mbps. Connecting to a wireless extender isn't the same as plugging directly into a switch or router, or using WiFi to an access point. The extender introduces some delay due to its design. Wireless extenders are mainly for broadening range, but they will always be a bit slower. If you're okay with that, position the extender in a good spot so it can get a solid signal from the main wireless router.
