Wifi issue
Wifi issue
Hi, I'm trying to resolve some Wi-Fi problems. My sister enjoys playing games and sometimes asks me to install Minecraft mods for her. Occasionally, malware appears after use, and using Malwarebytes reveals a drop in internet speed—sometimes to around 10 Mbps or even lower. This time it's happening again, but Malwarebytes isn't detecting anything, unlike last summer when I could always remove it. I can spot the malware and see the connection is to an old network name that hasn't been active for about three years. How can I fix this issue?
To avoid risky sites that could harm the system, I checked connections from other devices and PCs inside the house using both wired and wireless links on 2.4G and 5G networks. This helps confirm the issue isn’t with the modem or router. If the problem stays isolated to this specific PC and no malware is found, the best next move is a clean reinstall of Windows. It’s quicker than trying to track down hidden changes. While it may seem simple, many technicians follow this path unless they have unlimited time for troubleshooting. If I can’t verify what happened before, I’ll inspect the machine closely, but often I’ll reset everything to ensure stability.
I really stopped paying attention after you mentioned constantly installing malware. For real, avoid downloading from questionable sources—there are plenty of safe Minecraft mods from reputable sites. I’d consider a clean install just to be sure anything suspicious is removed. Mind you, it’s important to understand that if your computer does something illegal because of malware, the person paying for the internet service could face legal consequences.
