WiFi in the house to the barn
WiFi in the house to the barn
I'm trying to extend the Wi-Fi signal from our home to the barn. The expert would suggest it might be around 100 feet, possibly a bit shorter. To boost the connection and enjoy streaming Netflix and football, you'd likely need a device like a Wi-Fi extender.
It's a standard Wi-Fi access point, somewhat focused in direction. Not suitable for bridging. Not designed for this purpose. If you're looking for premium fiber connectivity from Ubiquiti
It offered another choice when he needed just one unit setup. According to the Linus video, it provides sufficient speeds and range for his long-range AP requirements.
If you're looking for a unified access point, consider this option instead of the 1500 bucks deal with just three 5G channels. Check out this link: https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UAP-AC-M...B01N9FIELY
For roughly $50 plus extra for an Ethernet cable, you can install this outside your home facing the barn. It supports up to 300Mbps on the 5GHz band. Set it up in access point mode and connect it to your main router. I haven’t used this before, but it has positive feedback on Amazon and functions well alone for streaming needs. Another choice is a wireless point-to-point bridge, similar to using a LocoM2 pair—each unit points toward the other to establish a wireless link, then connect each end to its respective switch or router for client WiFi. These devices are built for strong links between points; you still need to manage the connections at each end, ideally linking to your primary network and another LAN or extension. The TP-Link model mentioned can also serve this purpose if you buy two, though it raises the price.
No one has inquired before... How many walls separate the home router from the barn computer? Are they constructed from brick, wood, or something else?
