Thank you for the breakdown man! Much appreciated. A little update here since my last reply, seeing windscribe in the terminal gave me the idea to try and turn it on (its a vpn), so I did, and that seemed to have gotten the wifi working. I then turned off the wifi to see if the Ethernet works and it didn't, then connected to the wifi and turned on the vpn again, then off. and voila. Issues have resolved themselves. Both Ethernet and Wireless work, connect, and function as they should. I gave it a few minutes and a few restarts and that seriously seemed to have fixed my issues. Wtf. haha Could the routing of the vpn have been messing it up or interfering with the connection in some way? And connecting helped close that loop? Or was it the remedies I did at the start by updating bios, drivers, chipset etc? Asking to try and pinpoint the solution for myself and others who may encounter the same issue. It's possible the setup didn't finish cleanly, leaving parts in an unusable state until you reconnect or disconnect. Components like drivers and BIOS are unlikely to cause issues if the network is functioning properly on a hardware level, just without internet access. If you experience total lack of connection, missing network drivers might be the cause, but otherwise configuration problems are more probable. Nice that it resolved!
