I'm having trouble locating trustworthy details about budget-friendly routers that support both WPA3 and 6GHz. It seems like finding one that fits my needs is taking longer than expected. I'm hoping for a device with a user-friendly interface, especially for connecting to the ISP gateway and managing other network devices. I need easy access to log in temporarily and control user permissions. Setting up DNS should be straightforward; Cloudflare works well. I suspect VPN configuration would be straightforward overall. Are there options that let you assign specific devices VPN access or create unique DNS settings for certain equipment? These questions might steer you toward a dedicated solution like pfSense or similar tools. While these features are useful, they aren't essential for my current setup.

WPA3 is needed for WiFi 6E due to spec updates, meaning compatible devices use this standard. Do you know your budget and where you plan to buy?

It tends to be all or nothing. If you must choose devices through a VPN, it’s better to configure the client on each one. WiFi 6E is relatively new; while Wi-Fi 6 is widely available, 6E isn’t. Therefore, affordable choices are likely limited. If your ISP gateway operates in bridge mode, you’ll encounter several NAT layers. Be mindful of that.

I don't rely on this forum as much as I could be. Apologies for the delayed response because the site isn't alerting me. Do you have a price range and where you bought it? - Lurick Still unsure about the budget, checking prices. I'm in Canada. It seems like all-or-nothing pricing. If you need to pick specific devices through a VPN, setting up the client on each device would be better. -Donut417 WiFi 6E is relatively new. Although Wi-Fi 6 has been available for some time, 6E isn't yet common. So affordable choices might be limited. -Donut417 WPA3 is necessary for WiFi 6E as part of the technical updates, meaning compatible with WPA3 if it supports 6E. -Lurick Nice to know If your ISP gateway isn't in Bridge mode, you'll face several NAT layers. Just keep that in mind. -Donut417 I thought this was straightforward. It might be a bit tricky for me to get one of these new routers since I need to swap my outdoor security cameras from the #ONStorm I just saw.

Vendors typically delayed launching WiFi 6e routers because of limited parts availability; they’re rare and mostly found this year, making them some of the priciest options. I’d likely choose a more affordable WiFi 6 model or hold off until WiFi 7 arrives, which promises even better features.
