Hi there, I recently moved into a new home and wanted a solid setup. I invested in a good router and modem since my only ISP is Xfinity. For the modem I used the Arris surfboard SB8200, and the router was the Netgear AX1800. We have gigabit internet from our provider, but I expected speeds above 300 Mbps right next to the device. Initially, after connecting everything, we got between 90-120 Mbps. After adjusting some settings in the router admin panel, we improved to about 350 Mbps for a short time. Then I tweaked things more and ended up back at around 100 Mbps despite changes. My main question is which settings should I focus on to boost speeds and which should stay the same?

I'm not certain about the precise Netgear model, but it's a good idea to disable QoS. Verify if you're using 5GHz. Additionally, with Xfinity, make sure the coaxial cables are securely tightened at every connection point so everything connects properly.

I’d connect straight to the router and perform a speed test to confirm the issue is with the internet connection. Just to rule out other problems, I want to ensure the Wi-Fi is functioning properly.

Connect the modem straight to a computer and run a speed test. Verify the router isn’t causing the problem. Without Gig speeds after connecting the modem, check the configuration file or investigate potential signal issues.
