You're weighing Wi-Fi 6 versus Ethernet for your setup. Since you're not streaming much right now, but play games and stream occasionally, consider how each affects performance. At around 15 feet from your modem, latency matters less than speed and stability. Ethernet usually offers lower latency and more consistent speeds, which is great for gaming. Wi-Fi 6 can boost throughput and reduce congestion, but may still lag behind if you're far from the router or in a busy area. For most casual gaming, Ethernet is a solid choice.

Choose wired Ethernet if possible—it offers better stability and consistency compared to Wi-Fi.

When Ethernet is available, it should be the chosen option.

Truly, unless you're watching simultaneously, even WiFi 5 can manage gaming smoothly.

Consider running it along the walls or inside the ceiling/floor for better stability. Wiring it up will give you a more consistent performance.

I have Wi-Fi 6 on my laptop, but I usually find Ethernet more reliable. Although it offers nearly ten times the speed of standard gigabit Ethernet, real-world performance can vary—especially with obstacles like walls between the router and my device.
