Wierd overclocking problem
I purchased a new Ryzen 5 1600 and learned it works better with higher frequency RAM. That's why I bought the Gskill Flare x 3200mhz to avoid any surprises. I activated the XMP profile in the BIOS. CPU-Z now shows 3200mhz, but the Windows Task Manager says only 2400mhz. (That makes sense, right? you multiply it by two.)
What's happening? Who should I believe? CPU-Z or Task Manager?
PS: The BIOS also states the memory is clocked at 3200mhz.
Updated my bios and now the task manager also recognizes it as 3200mhz. Everything is working fine now. 😊
Based on what I see, Ryzen seems to be facing issues with activating high-frequency RAM. They intend to resolve this via BIOS updates. It’s not confirmed yet, but it looks like they’re working on it.
That seems odd. It might just be a software issue. The BIOS says what it says, so unless there are issues, you shouldn't be concerned.
