Widespread stuttering issue affecting the entire system in 1903.
In recent times I've observed my computer occasionally lagging or freezing for brief moments, especially after installing a new monitor and applying several updates. This problem seems to intensify over the past week. It could be linked to software changes or a hardware fault. I'm seeking advice on how to identify the cause. I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting, but I've taken some steps so far: 1) Switched to a 144Hz monitor 2) Installed the newest NVIDIA driver 3) Updated BIOS 4) Updated chipset drivers The issue persists regardless of restart or running multiple programs. Windows version: Windows 10 Pro Version 1903, installed on 11/06/2019. OS build 18362.356. Note: because of feedback about the Intel Core i7 8700k Asus Z370 TUF gaming setup, I'm still unsure where to start diagnosing.
Have you applied any September Windows updates? There are numerous issues introduced in those updates, so it’s best to remove them to verify your installation.
Think there was some Cumulative Update or whatever it is... a bunch here
KB4515384 has been affecting the system. Consider deleting it to check for improvements. No significant fixes were released in the September patch. The BlueKeep RDS flaw was addressed in the August update, so you shouldn’t face major security concerns.
Deinstalled the latest update and attempted to run LatencyMon—here’s the screenshot.
I'm not familiar with LatencyMon before now, so it's unclear what it's being tested for. The image suggests you've been running it for about an hour, yet only a few minutes have passed since you asked to uninstall updates—this seems inconsistent. If you haven't done that yet, restart the system to apply the update and check if the freezing persists. If it does, revert any other changes you made. You might also consider using DDU to fully remove the graphics driver and perform a clean install.
This was a pre-existing issue I encountered before the update process. No connection to removing the update itself. Apologies. Updated later: I’ll address this thread in about an hour with details about the KB4515384 update. Still freezing—KB4515384 was uninstalled, temp blocked from reinstall or restarting, and it’s been over an hour since reboot with the same problem.
