I assembled my second PC with an i3-12100, a Corsair Vengeance 3200 16GB setup, a Thermaltake 80+ Gold 600W power supply, and a WD Blue 500GB M.2 drive. The motherboard label indicates it includes a Wi-Fi 6 antenna. Installation of Windows 10 proceeded smoothly, though the installation key was outdated—gifted in 2017 and unused. Issues arose during Wi-Fi setup. I updated the BIOS but still couldn’t access the wireless option. Bluetooth drivers worked, allowing connections to my phone and laptop, but tethering remained unavailable. The network displayed as “Unidentified network - no internet connection.” Anyone familiar with similar configurations?

Didn't mention I lack Ethernet access. It seems I can't locate my cable for some reason.

Visit the network services section and check the old Windows 7 interface. The adapter should appear there. Verify if it’s turned on in the settings menu—network and internet options, then select network connections, click on network and sharing, and choose change adapter hardware. Confirm it isn’t disabled by default. Also note that certain motherboards might have Wi-Fi turned off; you didn’t specify a model, so it could be set in BIOS. Edited August 7, 2022 by king_thenorth

You have a Z690 UD AX DDR4 motherboard. The BIOS doesn’t list any settings that would activate the Wi-Fi antenna, and there’s no option for changing the adapter hardware. The only visible setting is for the Ethernet adapter.

Currently the problem lies with the driver. The simplest fix would be to connect an ethernet cable temporarily to test wifi functionality. Since bluetooth is working, the wifi card appears functional, but the driver needs proper installation. You might also open Device Manager to see if the adapter is faulty and reset it. In the meantime, using your phone as a tether or purchasing an ethernet cable would be the best options.
