I relocated into a new apartment this year, each unit featuring one router with a single Ethernet port in every room. It seems I accidentally chose the Google Home Mini, which only connects to Wi-Fi when it can detect your phone on the same network. We don’t need ISP accounts; the Wi-Fi is open and doesn’t require a passphrase. My goal is to link my Google Home Mini to the network so I can control my TV and smart bulbs via voice, but I’m stuck without a proper setup. My initial plan was to use the single Ethernet port in my room to create a Raspberry Pi router, following a YouTube tutorial. It worked temporarily using eth0 and the preinstalled Raspberry Pi Wi-Fi interface to act as a wireless access point. This solution lasted about 12 hours before I assumed the lease ended and my custom network vanished. Should I go ahead and purchase a new hub that doesn’t require Wi-Fi discovery for setup, or should I buy an Ethernet-to-wireless router and install it in my room?

I don’t have access to what’s on my router from the complex, but I’m assuming it’s turned off because network sharing or discovery isn’t working properly.

The usual admin password is often something simple like "admin123" or "password".

I tried the standard logins four times but none connected. It seems there could be issues with my Raspberry Pi code or a static IP problem.
