Wi-Fi connection issues preventing devices from communicating
I relocated into a new apartment this year, each unit featuring one router with a single Ethernet port in every room. It seems I accidentally chose the Google Home Mini, which only connects to Wi-Fi when it can detect your phone on the same network. We don’t need ISP accounts; the Wi-Fi is open and doesn’t require a passphrase. My goal is to link my Google Home Mini to the network so I can control my TV and smart bulbs via voice, but I’m stuck without a proper setup. My initial plan was to use the single Ethernet port in my room to create a Raspberry Pi router, following a YouTube tutorial. It worked temporarily using eth0 and the preinstalled Raspberry Pi Wi-Fi interface to act as a wireless access point. This solution lasted about 12 hours before I assumed the lease ended and my custom network vanished. Should I go ahead and purchase a new hub that doesn’t require Wi-Fi discovery for setup, or should I buy an Ethernet-to-wireless router and install it in my room?
The usual admin password is often something simple like "admin123" or "password".
