Wi-Fi adapter via USB is having trouble consistently connecting to mobile hotspots: resolved.
Hello, I'm using a mini USB Wi-Fi adapter to link my desktop PC with the internet. I consistently manage to detect the JioFi 3 router (see details below). Yet, the adapter struggles to consistently capture mobile hotspots; sometimes it works, other times it doesn<|pad|>. My phones can pick up these hotspots but not my PC through the adapter. I've experimented with both USB Wi-Fi adapters and adjusting the USB Wireless LAN Card settings in Network Connections. Would switching to a different adapter, perhaps with an external antenna, be beneficial? Any advice would be appreciated. Best regards, Ravi
Specs:
- PC: C2D Processor Intel® Pentium® CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz, 4.00 GB RAM (3.41 GB free), OS: Windows 10 Home
- Router: JioFi 3 (JMR540, LTE 2300/1800/850MHz, IEEE 802.11b/g/n 2.4G)
- USB Adapter: LB-Link BL-WN151 (150Mbps, Wi-Fi with WPS, 802.11n)
- Phones: Micromax Q452 & Panasonic P101
I managed to fix the issue. The spot I couldn’t detect was on channel 13. I checked the adapter’s settings in Device Manager under the Advanced section. There, I noticed Country Region (2.4GHz) was set to #0 (1-11). I switched it to #5 (1-14). Now my PC can recognize and connect to the Panasonic P101 on channel 13.
