What occurred? 7800X3D was a top-tier CPU with excellent efficiency, but now it seems the 9800X3D version consumes nearly double its predecessor's power. In games, this jump is about 30-40%, and in applications, roughly 100% more than before. Even more surprising. What changed? According to reviews, performance gains are only around 15% in applications and 2-4% in gaming—far less than the massive power increase. Is there a bug that needs fixing? What actually happened?

I believe the main turbo feature is stronger. The 7800x3d model has a reduced temperature threshold compared to the 9800x3d, thanks to the placement of the 3d V-Cache beneath the CPU die. In the 9800x3d, this design enables improved heat dissipation for the cores, which supports achieving higher all-core boost speeds.

The gaming audience usually ignores power usage concerns.

It doesn't make sense to justify a 100% rise in power usage. This issue seems like a design problem, and it's puzzling why no one is holding anyone accountable. 7800X3D was impressive, and 9800X3D should still be considered at least decent. A 100% increase in power consumption appears to be a significant error.

It also fails to provide a valid reason... Going past the optimal range for efficiency causes power consumption to rise sharply with minimal improvement. Even a full 100% increase in power usage isn't a concern if the initial power figure is already low.
