Got it. Steam sucs.
When STEAM stops backing an older game, what do you do?
Actavision’s management has made it obvious they’re focused on profit, and selling the next product doesn’t make sense if you’re not happy playing the older version.
I enjoyed ZORK NEMESIS – but if it had been on STEAM, I wouldn’t have played the old stompong games again.
DOSBOX would’ve been a better choice.

Windows is evolving in a smarter direction than before, moving away from abandoning the existing architecture. Creating a new one that doesn’t work with older systems is no longer an option. Each Windows version maintains backward compatibility, ensuring previous versions remain supported. I am confident future updates will preserve the architecture rather than discarding it entirely, keeping all existing software functional.

Steam sux. Period. Today is a good example. I bought Portal 2 from Amazon ($16.99) and started installing at 3:45 PST. It, of course forces Steam's involvement. It is now (5:45) finally patching and still has 1.5 hours to go. That's 3.5 hours just to install. Without Steam, it would take 15-30 mins. I'm an old gamer. Over 30 years. I'm a solo player. I want nothing to do with the foul-mouthed teens with 4x my reflexes playing online. I friggin' hate these 3rd party DRM servers. I could care less about "social media". Steam and others like it (Origin Uplay, etc.) are ruining one of the few things left that I can enjoy at 67 years old. The fact is, the developers & publishers don't care a fig about their customers anymore, unfortunately like most corporations these days.
Love Tom's site. Keep up all the good tech work boys!
