Why Nvidia Optimus restricts dGPU from being the preferred GPU?
Why Nvidia Optimus restricts dGPU from being the preferred GPU?
I was attempting to determine how to utilize the dGPU instead of the iGPU without navigating through Windows settings to select a compatible GPU. However, when I accessed Nvidia's interface and selected this option, no changes occurred. Shouldn't this be a straightforward solution for switching GPUs?
are you certain the games you're using aren't utilizing the dgpu following this adjustment in global settings?
have you restarted windows prior to launching a game?
are all drivers current?
installed the latest GPU and chipset drivers
updated the laptop's BIOS
I mean, yeh. The system functions perfectly outside the areas that are globally configured. For instance, if I pick dgpu instead of optimus, it understands what to do and the dgpu is utilized with every program including explorer.exe. The global configurations, as far as I know, are intended to start any application with specific settings, but whenever I launch something using global settings for dgpu, the igpu still takes control if it's the default. So, it seems like it just suggests globally and then manually applies its default.
I might be able to override the settings for the program by choosing to use a dedicated GPU myself, but as I mentioned earlier, globally it should handle that automatically once you select a specific GPU. Globally.
