What Android version is installed on your RedMi Note 8 Pro? Which wireless frequency are you using for the hotspot (2.4GHz or 5GHz)? If you have Developer Options, is the Wi-Fi scan throttling enabled? Also check if Tethering hardware acceleration is active. For tips: disable 'Nearby device scanning', NFC and Bluetooth. Use WiFi Analyzer (available for free on the MS Store) to perform a wireless survey and review the channel analysis for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Sorry I'm running late. Device: Android 10 QP1A, version 190711. Connection: 2.4Ghz. Both features are enabled. One detail: OFF. Spoiler alert.

Your device works with wireless-AC (WiFi 5), but that frequency range is currently underused. The survey you mentioned is specifically for the 5GHz band. I need to check the 2.4GHz spectrum instead.

My PC isn't compatible with WiFi 5. The 2.4GHz model I showed you works fine.

Click the 2.4GHz button at the bottom of the graph to switch to the next band. You’ll then view the 2.4GHz channel analysis. It doesn’t always mean it supports WiFi 5; even older models with 802.11n did use the 5GHz band. The 5GHz channel analysis you shared suggested channel 183 was optimal. The star rating seems unclear without a 5GHz antenna. Could you share your exact wireless adapter model?

I made adjustments to the smartphone's WiFi frequency to 5GHz, but the PC isn't recognizing the hotspot.

Your 2.4GHz analysis looks solid, so you're all set to continue. Did you confirm the precise model of your wireless adapter? Look for any available updated drivers for it. Also, how familiar are you with USB tethering? Try it without enabling ‘WiFi scan throttling.’ I don’t think this will significantly impact performance, as it mainly affects apps running directly on the phone.

Yes, it's current. Same thing. Just a random cut-off. Will do that and get back to you soon. Thanks a lot.

It seems the problem could relate to your device or the cellular network. If turning off ‘WiFi scan throttling’ doesn’t resolve it, there may be limited options left. How close are you to the closest cell tower?
