Linux tracks CPU activity as a share of available cores. For a 12-core system, a workload consuming 1200% would equate to full utilization in Windows, while 600% would translate to 50%, and so on. The same pattern applies to your machine. Regardless, performance is usually irrelevant.

It makes sense, you have four CPU cores with each at 40% or higher. Htop and Glances both display the total CPU usage.

Usually Chrome and Firefox consume similar CPU usage—just a small amount when idle. On Windows, they peak between 5% and 20%, but sometimes both run together and demand significant processing power. On Linux, I can’t just overlook this performance impact.
