No, the phone remains connected during typing, and the task manager behaves identically.
The laptop stays powered on continuously (except during shutdown), and I seldom rely on battery power.

What if we simply relied on Wi-Fi tethering instead of dealing with the problem?

And I will suggest examining closely what the system is attempting when Task Manager slows down.
Within Task Manager itself, search for any unfamiliar or unexpected activities through Task Manager > Startup.
You might also utilize Resource Monitor and Process Explorer (available for free from Microsoft) to identify other changes.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...s-explorer
Additionally, check the Task Scheduler: there could be additional processes being initiated by Task Manager or actions it is performing.
The main goal is to uncover any suspicious processes, after which further research into their purpose and behavior should follow.
That tethering software would definitely need more scrutiny and analysis.

I often use tethering for long periods, but wireless tethering causes the phone to overheat and drains the battery quickly. It’s not a huge problem—just the task manager feels slow, while the rest of the system works okay. I’ve shared this issue on several forums before, and I came across this one recently. I thought about posting here in case anyone finds a solution or has similar experiences. It’s better to avoid bugs and have a stable system than to deal with problems later.

Completely missed having that Process Explorer nearby. I only used it to investigate the dGPU issues and strange crashes. Will definitely take a closer look. Thanks.

If this problem appears on multiple devices and platforms, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft through the Feedback Hub or contacting them directly to report it.
