Why is playing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on an RX 590 GPU causing issues?
Hi,
To start with, yes—I'm thinking about an upgrade, but not in the near future. I really want to use this card until I find a better system, which is why I'm writing this post.
For some time, I've struggled with my RX 590 trying to play Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on Steam (I don't care about repacks or pirated copies). I've always been frustrated because even games that are 3 or 4 years older than the RX 590 can run at least 30 frames per second, while I'm stuck at the second cutscene.
When I start the game, I see a message saying "Your GPU is not supported." This is one of the most annoying pop-ups I've encountered so far. There are cards that are 4 or 5 years older than my RX 590 and still manage to play the game, even if it's only at 30 fps. Meanwhile, I can't progress past the first cutscene.
I've tried everything—different drivers, presets, etc.—but nothing works. This forum feels like the last place I thought of for help, knowing how big the gamer community is here. There are plenty of RX 580 and RX 590 players in this space, and maybe someone has tips on getting the game to run on my setup.
I'm not a hardcore player, but if I can play a game with FSR or similar at low settings, I'm fine. I've managed to play both Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales on this GPU without any issues.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the only game I can't play on my RX 590, and it's really frustrating. I can enjoy most recent titles with decent FPS even at low settings, but not this one.

Videos aren't helping much, as many people seem to breeze through this game while I'm stuck. Are there anyone here who can help me overcome these obstacles? Or am I stuck and have to upgrade?
Are you sure your Windows setup is completely current? The same applies to your video drivers.
