Have you considered skipping the cables and linking the device straight to your main router? This might involve a lengthy wire run or positioning the device near your primary router.

That's a good question. I checked online, and it seems Amazon primarily offers complete plates instead of individual ports. Regarding your second point, using a Cat6 port with Cat5e cables should work fine.
