this usually occurs before I put them on, and my fingers get greasy. it's the first time this has happened with these headsets. Should I continue using them?

It seems you want to cut back on greasy fried chicken and avoid using your headset!

Are you asking if the plastic is releasing moisture or sweat? It's uncommon, but I've noticed inexpensive plastics forming a sticky film. These are the kind of headphones you're referring to.

they are razer synapse headset. the plastic on the outside cups feels more like oil. it doesn’t look normal at all. the headset i bought a while back is still great, with solid sound and good specs. i don’t have the exact specs right now, sorry for that. but i’m open to hearing your thoughts and what others think about this. have you ever seen something like this before? thank you. i checked them out—they’re still in decent condition, aside from the oil.

It's typical. Plastic naturally breaks down over time, and this particular case appears to be progressing faster than usual. You have no control over this. Consider replacing your headset.

The packaging and headset might have been labeled in such a way, though labels can be misleading. The headsets could have been bought as counterfeits or of lower quality than the genuine product. There may still be some warranty left; you should return the device if it appears to have a manufacturing defect.

The duration of your hair and its contact with specific areas are questions you should clarify directly with the person involved.

I have short hair. My hair doesn't touch the outside headset cups.

I purchased them from a trustworthy shop. When I paid, they offered an extended warranty but I declined it. It was about two years ago, and I don’t even remember having the receipt. This issue didn’t appear immediately, so I’m not sure.
