Why is my GTA 5 running like garbage
Why is my GTA 5 running like garbage
Hi, I'm a new user here and need your assistance.
I've been experiencing low GPU usage but high CPU usage while playing GTA 5 on my high-end system.
My system specs are: i5-9400f, motherboard, ASUS ROG Strix B360-F gaming, RTX 2070 SUPER ROG Strix Advanced Edition, 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, 1TB M.2 SSD.
In story mode I get about 70-140 FPS, but in GTA ONLINE it's around 60-70 FPS while in the city and 30-50 when driving.
Anyone else facing similar problems? Please let me know how to resolve this.
How elevated? Ideally per core. The GPU might be on the higher side, but the CPU is firmly mid-range.
Yeah, I had stuttering problems with an i5-8500...then I upgraded to a 8700k...the extra threads fixed the stuttering, but didn’t really boost FPS. So, in "story mode" you’re playing offline, right? It seems like your internet speed might be the issue too.
Also, do you have Wi-Fi active or is your connection hardwired through your Ethernet port? I’d attempt to hardwire your PC to the modem first, if possible, then turn off Wi-Fi and test. That means disabling Wi-Fi on your PC, not the modem, just to ensure it uses the faster Ethernet instead. Makes sense?
I use Ethernet connection, also with my older setup which had a GTX 960, an i5 6600K with 8GB RAM. I usually achieve about 70 to 80 frames per second in GTA Online when using high to medium settings.
verify if background tasks consume CPU and check their running frequency within the game
