Why is my game running so slow and why does nothing seem to work?
My old games are now playing way too slow, dropping to only 20 frames per second. They used to run at over 60 fps before. I checked my CPU and it seems like usage is low, going down to just a few percent even if the game looks laggy. My GPU is using fine though. Is there anything else I can try? I have already removed old drivers and reinstalled them with DDU, and scanned for viruses. Specs: MSI GE66 Raider 11UH (LAPTOP), Windows 11, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 16 GB RAM, Intel Core i7-11800H Processor, 32 GB RAM, 2 TB NVMe SSD.
Your computer uses all the power available because you are plugged in and running on ultra-high settings. It doesn't get too hot while just using apps normally, but things get really warm when playing games. That's actually expected behavior for you, right?
Yeah, but if it gets really hot, it needs to slow down so it doesn't burn itself out. Unplugging the power and cleaning the heatsinks and fans can help. If the CPU feels too hot over 65 degrees Celsius or if the GPU is getting hotter than 80 degrees, then I'll do that.
