Why is my dedicated graphics card showing up in Windows but not in the NVIDIA Control Panel?
Hey, I bought an Asus Zenbook 14 Q407I about two years ago but suddenly things are breaking when I try to play League of Legends. Here is what's happening: my CPU is the AMD RYZEN 5 4500U and my GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce MX350, with 8GB of RAM running on Windows 10 Home 64 Bit. After loading the game screen, it just crashes back to normal. I thought it was a bad game file but reinstalling didn't fix it. A few days later, when I tried playing Stray, an error popped up saying my GPU doesn't support shaders or something like that. This made me think my laptop is using onboard graphics instead of the dedicated one.
I checked Display Settings and even looked at Advanced Display Settings to find out which chip type I have. The details all said <unavailable>. Then when I tried to use the Nvidia Control Panel, it gave an error saying: "NVIDIA Display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU."
Even though my BIOS and Device Manager clearly show that both AMD Radeon Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 are working properly, turning off or on the MX350 makes no difference. The display adapter still says unavailable in the details. I hope some other people have had the same problem and could share their solutions. Thanks so much!
First try reinstalling Geforce drivers (if you haven't already) before we start blaming each other. Make sure the manual search boxes are filled in right. Click the installer with a right click instead of two clicks on the left. Pick the custom clean install choice. Download the latest official Geforce drivers to make your PC gaming better and run apps quicker. Visit www.nvidia.com We'll see if it finds an Nvidia GPU and installs things correctly.
