Why is Fallout 4 so big?
I removed F4 because I needed more space and plan to reinstall it. It shows 79GB for installation now, whereas it was around 45GB before I uninstalled it. I had mods installed at the time of removal if that’s useful. Have there been many updates recently? I’m not sure.
The game has been around for a while now, so it makes sense to release a major update.
Console or PC. Since the console is where I own the game, it was around 75 GB previously. Avoid uninstalling on consoles—had banned mods installed and removed them to get COD, but I reinstalled FO4. All my cloud files got corrupted because the game depended on items removed from the Bethesda Xbox Mod Database. When you start the game, it also takes up an extra 2GB of HDD space since consoles allow only 2GB of mods. PC means the mods themselves. If you need to free space, use Steam to locate where the game is saved, right-click the folder, go to properties, and turn on compression. Choose 'folder + files' when prompted. It might take over an hour, but you could save several gigabytes.
