This can lead to reduced performance even if the total capacity is doubled. In certain Ryzen setups, using four sticks can actually boost performance due to dual-channel dual rank configuration instead of single-rank dual channel.

Using four slots with two sticks can reduce strain on the memory controller and improve speed when DOCP/XMP is active. A two-channel setup with two sticks usually works better than a single stick, while a four-channel board offers even better results. Avoiding low-cost POS Dell models is recommended for better performance.

I believe it should be mentioned per CPU. For instance, my Gigabyte MW70-3S0 features dual CPU with quad channel per CPU and four sticks per CPU, resulting in octal channel.

Only extreme overclockers use just two sticks. Top overclocking boards usually offer only two slots.

It seems like your performance varies depending on the number of sticks. With 2 sticks you get stable at 1900:1, and 4 sticks at 1900:1, but not beyond that. The X3D reaches 1933 with 2 sticks, though not higher. Your 5600X behaves differently—2 sticks give around 2000:1, 4 sticks about 3667:1, yet you recall faster results with four sticks in past Intel configurations.

He has a 5900X, a 5800X3D and a 5600X. It reminds me of the person at Micro Center who bought two MSI SUPRIM Liquid 4090s and 16TB of 970 EVO Plus.
