single core works fine, but multi-core performance is weaker than expected. 11400, 16GB RAM, 1650s, M.2 drive. Dell XPS model. After reinstalling Windows 11, I saw a drop to 7300 points on multi-core and 1403 on single-core. The issue persists even after the reinstall. I assumed the fix was complete.

The system specifications indicate potential overheating risks and thermal throttling issues.

It makes sense that the i5 XPS 8490 relies on a cooler that performs better than the standard Intel cooler.

The cooler isn't great, but it still earned me 7300 points in the past.

The 11400 will perform better with Cinebench if you raise the default turbo settings. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel...00f/6.html Not increasing limits will cause uneven results, particularly after consecutive tests. Throttling due to power caps is likely. The Dell XPS BIOS may lack access to these limits. Consider using Intel XTU; if it doesn’t support your CPU, try ThrottleStop. https://www.techpowerup.com/download/tec...ottlestop/ Access the TPL window and adjust MSR PL1 and PL2 power caps until throttling stops. Also verify the MMIO Lock setting. Enable Speed Shift Technology in the BIOS, and ensure HWiNFO shows SST as green.

I ran the test a week later and the outcomes weren’t what I expected. I’m trying to market this PC now because I own a 3080, but I’m still searching for the issue. The single-core performance is fine for gaming, but for work it’s unclear. Once someone buys it, they won’t mention problems.

Your temperatures while running Cinebench were high, possibly due to dust and heat buildup.

It was a scorching 80 degrees when I achieved 7300 points, though I didn’t check the temperatures yet. The thermal paste is brand new.

Checked the BIOS settings to activate Speed Shift. HWiNFO indicates it's turned off. Running Dell systems without it can cause instability.
