Why does my printer keep reprinting the last job I created?
Why does my printer keep reprinting the last job I created?
I own a nice old Samsung ML-2950 Mono laser printer. It probably lasts so long because I don’t use it often except during tax season when I have to download many forms from the IRS. I can get it for free, but I like doing things myself. Now, the issue... yesterday I printed something next to me as I was getting updated. I took a photo and printed it. The next day, I was ready to print another multiphoto layout. When I pressed "Print," the same image came out. That’s definitely a mistake I made. Every time I run the printer, it prints that exact same thing. It looks like the printer has hit a snag. I tried a test page to break the cycle, but it still printed the previous image. This hasn’t happened before. I’m not sure if the software or the printer settings are the problem. I checked most options—removed the default check, switched to ECO mode—but nothing worked. I even contacted the developer of the photo program, Irfanview, who suggested checking my printer settings, but that didn’t help. Anyone here have faced a similar problem and fixed it? Also, note this is being done on Windows 7, where I’ve used this software in earlier versions. In fact, the latest version works with XP through Windows 11.
Thank you for your message. Before proceeding with deleting the files in that folder, it would be wise to consider how it might affect your printer's performance. You may need to reinstall the printer driver, as this could be necessary. I'm curious about why this happened after all these years and whether it can be avoided.

What drivers? It seems you might not be in the correct place.
I visited services via Google, searched for the Spool folder, stopped it, and then checked the windows\system32\spool directory for deleting all files... there were around five files, including Driver and Printer. That’s why I’m being careful before removing them all. Not too long ago I struggled to get a universal driver for Samsung through HP. I followed that link, but Google seemed to stop at the Spool folder and suggested deleting everything. After rechecking, I saw Printers listed, but there were no temporary files—just an empty folder.
BTW, just to clarify, the printer continued printing without stopping.

I updated my previous comment since you got your reply here. I understand HP has acquired Samsung printers. I have the driver and firmware saved, which means I don’t need to reinstall them, even though they’re still working. I was wondering how that’s achieved in this situation?
Avoid running the firmware update when using a non-Samsung toner cartridge.
For Samsung Toner Cartridges, download the zip file, extract the exe file, and execute it. It will handle everything.
I did all of that with Services and I see where at the top it gives me the option to turn Spool on start again. I don't want to do the cmd command and screw things up... I just got your message about the toner and firmware. No i am using a recent purchase samsung clone toner. May i say something and please, do not get offended on what I am about to say....you have been very helpful and I appreciate that...but your first reply was very short with no explanation, other than what we be exchanging through this thread. Not everyone is printer savvy when they ask a question and that includes me. I never in 10 years ever had to mess around with Spool folder, that is why i went to google after reading your first response to find out on how to get to the spool folder. So now I am going to go back to services and turn Spool on start again, and like I said before my Printer folder is empty.
