Agree on maintaining a reliable PSU, but given the recent driver update, it seems more likely the problem isn’t the power supply. Rolling back should confirm whether the issue existed or not.

I’ve adjusted my approach so far. Rolled back the driver but got the same issue. Reinstalled Windows and set everything up the same way before—still no help. Swapped the power supply to an older working 750W unit and it didn’t fix things. I even took it apart completely and rebuilt it with the original 650W power supply, but the problem remains. I’m really frustrated now. After trying a few things, I flipped the GPU’s dual BIOS setting to Mining mode. Everything boots normally, games run without crashes yet, and I haven’t seen any issues after over an hour of play. Performance is poor—fans are loud and FPS barely reaches 65 on Fortnite. What should I do next? Is the card faulty? Could there be a problem with the gaming mode BIOS? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The changes you made initially were mainly driver updates, but later included firmware improvements. The GPU problems appear to occur only in normal mode, while mining mode handles the load differently and avoids crashes.

It was merely a driver update, just another routine GPU driver fix. Now it remains locked in Mining Mode even when I change the settings. Note: I fixed it by removing Adrenaline Software.

On my mining rigs I encounter issues (BSOD) with the latest AMD drivers. I use an outdated AMD driver package "amd-software-adrenalin-edition-22.3.2-win10-win11-march24.exe" and that driver keeps everything stable. The issue arises because Windows automatically attempts to update the AMD drivers to the newest version. Therefore, I had to turn off automatic driver updates in Windows.

1. Refer to the instructions on the website How to Enable/Disable Automatic Driver Updates in Windows 11 (minitool.com) (used method 2)
2. Disable the current driver using "amdcleanuputility.exe" from AMD
3. Download and install an older driver version

Running an extended stress test on the GPU could reveal performance details or potential weaknesses. It might push the hardware beyond safe limits, possibly causing instability or crashes. I can suggest tests that simulate maximum workloads to check for faults. Let me know if you'd like guidance on that.

You can use tools like FurMark for testing. It's safe.

The mining ruins suggest you might be able to rebuild the card bios, depending on luck.

I discovered the issue and resolved it. Thanks to all who shared useful advice—I’ve gained a lot of knowledge. You won’t believe it, as neither of us expected this. The fix was for a Sata SSD from Walmart, PNY brand; I only realized the problem after encountering the BSOD error (failed to write read-only drive). After moving everything to M.2 drives, the issue was solved.
