Why does my PC generate a "Captures" folder each time I launch a Steam game?
Whenever I begin Counter-Strike 2, a folder called "Captures" appears automatically on my desktop. If I remove it, it regenerates immediately as long as the game is active. If the game isn't running, I can delete it. It seems to be a bug I don't understand how to resolve. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I accidentally moved the file out of order onto the desktop and deleting it confused me because I wasn’t sure what to do. If I hadn’t followed my exact steps backward, I would have had to reinstall to retrieve the capture file in programs 86x, which is really frustrating since it doesn’t know where to go. Lol
I'm not sure, but it seems the other two people answered your question. One possible solution is to eliminate the Xbox game bar and video capture processes and.exe from your Win10/Win 11 system. If it's not a feature or a Steam menu option, you can run these PowerShell commands. You can use get-appxpackage -allusers *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage and Get-AppxPackage *Xbox* | Remove-AppxPackage. If that didn't help, try running those commands after disabling all game recording and Xbox-related buttons in the control panel.
Yes, removing the folder from the desktop only caused it to regenerate on the desktop. After returning it to the Steam folder, it remained there. I accidentally moved it out of the Steam folder and became confused 😕
