My laptop model is the Asus X541UJ. When I run it on battery power, it suddenly cuts off after just a few minutes (from about one to fifteen). The battery level stays high, around eighty to ninety percent at that moment. Once it stops working, I can plug it back in and turn it on again within seconds, but the problem comes back soon after. Sometimes, however, the power lasts for up to two hours without issues. That made me think my battery is still in good shape. I never had this happen when plugged in; it only started happening while using it on battery. So I don't think overheating is causing it (my CPU and GPU temps are never going higher than fifty-five Celsius). I tried replacing the hard drive with a solid-state drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows 10, but that didn't fix anything either.

It's likely the battery itself. If that doesn't fix the problem, getting a new one is probably what you need. But first, if you can find a tech to check it out for you, maybe that would be better. You could look at your battery health using HWinfo, but I'm not sure how accurate that data really is. So use it with some caution.

Yesterday I checked the battery and it worked for 2.5 hours. But today something went wrong again. It only runs for about 5 minutes when using the battery.

Are you checking the battery life? It might be tough if the laptop needs more power than usual while doing hard things, like gaming or video editing. That's when the battery can fail because it doesn't have enough juice left over to keep going. If you just do simple stuff like browsing the web or watching videos, it probably won't run out of power often. Also, if a battery has worn down, it might act weird—sometimes working well and sometimes struggling depending on what you're doing.

Hey, I just left YouTube running on for a few hours. Can you recommend some good tests I should try? Like maybe some specific software? By the way, it's not even a gaming computer so what do I need to check out?

Play several YouTube videos on very high settings like 4K to make sure your computer's power units work hard but don't get too hot or stop working.
