Began two days ago, appearing without clear reason. After launching certain games, the loading screen briefly animates before freezing, some games crash while others allow me to use alt-tab but not return. The application doesn't respond, and closing it requires using Task Manager. I've attempted uninstalling and reinstalling, but the issue continues. Also tried updating video drivers to the latest version, rolling back to a previous working version, disabling background programs, and ensuring Windows is up to date. This seems to affect certain titles (Rainbow 6, Destiny 2), though some games like BF4 and GTAV still function. My system specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core, 24GB RAM DDR4 (2x4GB + 2x8GB), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070.

They look good.
Although I'd let it run for a while.
There might be an intermittent issue.
Often with that problem...it's the PSU.
Another approach would be to power down...and then reinsert the plugs and cards, just in case something came loose.

Have you verified the temperatures? Which PSU model are you using and how long has it been installed?

times and usage appear normal, temperature around 50 degrees Celsius, no spikes in task manager. It's a silverstone strider st55f-g gold 550W power supply unit. I think the computer was built about 4 to 5 years ago since I purchased it roughly four years back, and it's a second-hand unit.

Download and execute HWinfo to verify the PSU voltages. They appear in the MB section and must fall within 5% of 12, 5 and 3.3.

the voltage appears steady even when playing rocket league (which functions) and trying destiny 2 (which freezes instantly).
also, reseating the gpu and ram didn’t seem to resolve the problem.
possibly the cause is that around the time this began, the power briefly cut off and then came back on while i was using the computer. it definitely shut down because of the power loss, and when i restored it it still worked with bf4 (which seems unaffected by this issue), but later i noticed some games wouldn’t launch, so i’m not certain it’s the main reason.
it could be that some hardware was damaged or a software issue occurred, but i have no idea.
