Hey, is there a way to use a .bat file or something cool to force Win11 folders to show just one specific image as the thumbnail when they open? I've already used customizergod to improve the icons but they still pick random pictures from inside each folder. Thanks so much!

The rule I am looking for looks like this: How do I make a custom folder picture? Right-click any folder and click Properties. Click on Customize tab. Choose File... under Folder pictures to change the folder picture. Source from Major Geeks page. But another thing needed is that this process must work for all subfolders too, right? First check if it works just on one folder or a whole group of folders. Also figure out how the first image gets picked and if they are in order.

I have used this from experience on old Windows versions and even Windows 10, and this feature is very unstable. Sometimes it works great, other times not at all. If you try to display an image that is too big, it won't show up. To get the picture to appear as a thumbnail, I followed @Ralston18's steps, but there isn't a way for it to copy those images into all folders below. Maybe someone else has figured out how to do this.

Yeah, that is how I usually go about it, but I only check one folder at a time. No matter what I do, I can't make it work for every single folder in a box. It might be because all the folders are read-only and I can't change that either (it goes back to read-only when I leave the properties tab). When picking an image, I click choose file and just pick the first one manually.

I believe we could use a Powershell command or script to handle this. It would be easy if we only checked one folder, but making it work for many folders will need some more work. We also need to copy all images and set up a test area before starting. Some folders probably need permission to read and write things. If you code, check out the Powershell site and see what you can find (I found some scripts). Try them out. Focus on just one folder and one image file inside it first. When that works, try making the script work for other folders too. What kind of images are you using? That matters because different formats need special handling. Some things I tried depended on .ico files. One script had to make do with workarounds if it didn't use that format. If your code or script doesn't run properly, post what you tried and tell me which parts worked or failed. Basically, I am answering like a teacher giving homework. The forum rules say no homework is allowed. Even though this might not be homework, we can't know the truth just by looking here. To help you get started: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/p...ng...rshell-7.4 Getting a list of items in a folder could be useful. Specifically: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7599...ry-details It seems doable I think. Not sure how hard it is to build, but maybe not too complicated or messy. We should start by looking at what things are already there (Gets). Don't make new folders, don't delete existing ones, and don't change settings unless you're using a temporary test area that you can delete anytime later. Basically: "do over."
