Why do games look blurry?
I often faced problems where certain games appeared blurry even when set to maximum without any anti-aliasing. The solution I used was applying upscaled resolutions from the NVIDIA control panel, specifically DSR settings. On my 1440p monitor, these made the game look much sharper at 4K DSR compared to native 1440p. I’m curious if there’s a way to use similar upscaled effects so the game appears clearer without needing to double the resolution and lose many frames. I’m comfortable with 1440p and find it offers a solid balance between quality and performance, so I don’t want to switch just for sharper visuals.
Native resolution always appears sharper to me. It seems you might be using DLSS or resolution scaling techniques. While quality DLSS upscales to 1080p, it doesn’t match the performance of scaling to 4K. Technologies like FSR/DLSS work more effectively at higher resolutions because they rely on larger datasets. I haven’t used Balanced or Performance versions, so for me it’s either Quality or Off.
Confirming motion blur is disabled. Also, have you checked the alien ship screen refresh test to evaluate the appearance on your monitor?
Which titles are available? Also, some AA might appear unclear, such as T-AA under 100%.
Hard to say without seeing a full breakdown of anything you've changed in the in game settings and driver configuration. What monitor do you have?
Considering DLDSR offers comparable visuals with less performance impact, unless your GPU lacks support. What graphics card and monitor are you using? Which titles do you think perform best with this setting? Factors influencing perceived blur may differ—does it appear on still images or during movement? Since OP mentioned DSR, they’re working from a higher render resolution than their display.
RDR2 requires TAA, so it can't be completely turned off. You'll always see a slight blur at any setting. At most, you can reduce its intensity. To make up for it, try using DSR or DLDSR together with DLSS to achieve a similar effect. Some modifications also allow you to lower TAA further or enable DLAA in the game.
Dldsr refers to the Direct Link Data Stream, a feature in some games that allows direct data transfer between devices. It's causing issues with your setup involving an RTX 4090 and a Samsung G7 Odyssey 27-inch when playing Red Dead Redemption 2.
