Why did my GPU crash?
I own a Sapphire 7970 and have previously overclocked it without issues. Recently, while playing an early access Steam title called Subnautica, my system crashed completely. The screen displayed a distorted color mix, and there was a strange humming noise. System restore helped somewhat, but I’m unsure if this was caused by the game or the age of my graphics card. I’m concerned it might have led to lasting damage.
If you've previously overclocked without issues, the issue might lie with the game itself. Alpha or beta games are often not fully optimized and can have problems regardless of hardware settings. Try reverting to default clock speeds to check if the problem persists. If it doesn't occur then the overclock may be causing the conflict. If the issue appears at normal speeds, further troubleshooting will be needed.

Try resetting your clock speeds to the default setting and observe if the problem persists. If it doesn't occur then revert to your original overclock settings and check for further issues. If the problem appears at default clocks, it may indicate another underlying cause needing deeper troubleshooting.
Probably the game, it's likely from a past time. I suggest replacing the cards, but that seems odd.
