Why can't my NETGEAR Nighthawk AC3200 connect to Wi-Fi? I need some help from you guys.
Hi, I bought a NETGEAR Nighthawk AC3200 router with a DOCSIS 3.1 modem (Model C7800) a year ago. It was working great in my old house with Xfinity before. Now that I moved, it won't connect to the new place. I called their phone support and they said the modem is broken, but I'm not sure if that's true because it used to work fine right after buying it. After moving, I unplugged it, put it in the box, took it out, and plugged it back in again. Also, some lights on the modem aren't working as expected. Any help would be awesome! Thanks.
What does the modem status show? Page 23 in the user manual - https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/..._UM_EN.pdf I would also factory reset the unit -- see page 111 in the above manual.
Did I reset the factory before calling support? No, it didn't work. To fix things on the router's login screen (page 23), I need to activate the modem with Xfinity, but that isn't possible for me at all. Even though I've tried many times, nothing has helped.
I think the LEDs on my router are the best clue to find what's wrong. Go check page 9 in that manual I sent you. You have to make sure both the incoming and outgoing cables are locked in place. Did you actually use a multimeter to test if your coax cable is working? To figure this out, just take the center wire of your coax and connect it to the metal shield with a short piece of wire. Then plug that whole setup into an extension cord outside near where Xfinity puts its signal meter. Make sure all those connections are tight when you do this test.
