Why are USB devices still powered on after you turn off the PC?
Hello, I'm using a Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme (rev. 1.0). I observed that after turning off the PC, certain USB devices still stayed powered on through the motherboard's USB ports. Why is this happening? Is it normal? Are there any methods to disable them without unplugging the cables?
You may notice that certain USB ports fail to deliver +5V when the computer is in standby mode. Consider relocating the device to a different port if feasible. Besides trying BIOS settings to disable this function, another approach is to cut off the power supply to the PC. This is straightforward if you have switched mains outlets, though it becomes more challenging with unswitched sockets.
Yes, it's completely acceptable.
Since the energy usage is quite minimal, I think it's best to let it stand.
