Why am I having trouble connecting to certain sites on my own computer?
hi, I've got a brand new gaming PC that's been working fine for about nine months now. But my old laptop is just getting too old and breaking down quickly lol. I'm an artist and honestly, the new computer way better than my old one, so I should be able to use it everywhere. But because of some internet trouble, I have to keep switching between them to post stuff on social media or find art references. That's really painful for me, you know? Eight months ago something weird happened in our country and the whole internet got blocked by the government. So we can't even use regular internet until today. But when things started working up again after those dark days, a strange thing happened to both my computers! The problem is: since then I just can't connect to certain websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Telegram, Pinterest, Deviantart, Discord, and Instagram on my new PC! When I refresh the page it says "The connection has timed out" but I can still get onto those sites with my laptop (since we use a VPN for that). I'm using the same internet plan for both machines. I even tried different things like wireless and direct LAN connection to my router, hot spots from my phone, checked the DNS settings on both computers, cleared cookies, and made sure they're using the exact same version of the same VPN or proxy server. The only real difference is that my laptop runs Windows 8.1 while my new PC gets the newest Windows 10 update. Do you think it's just because of the different operating systems?! Oh, I'm also a gamer and I can connect to Steam or Riot games without any problems on the new PC! For exactness those are uncensored online games that work fine with me. Why does YouTube not let me in? Where is the actual problem here?! p.s. It works on normal websites even if they're just from the government, but my laptop loads way faster while the new PC takes ages to load things. It looks like the VPNs aren't working well at all or not working on specific sites on my computer. Sorry for the long message but I need to explain everything because it's really weird why can't I get onto those websites with my new friend lol. Any advice please?!
8 months ago, something happened in our country that stopped everyone on the internet from working normally because the government shut it down. Even though we can't use regular internet anymore, I'm still here talking to you. If you're asking where this place is, maybe check if your computer's BIOS needs an update or try removing and putting back the drivers for your network card. Before that, please tell me what kind of PC you have and which router model you're using.
I live in Iran. I haven't tried it yet, so I'll look and see what happens! My router is the Tp-link TD-W8961N with a speed of 300Mbps for Wireless N ADSL2. My PC is an Asus Tuf gaming B560 Plus with wifi. It runs on an Intel Core i3-10105 Comet Lake processor from the 10th Gen, has 16GB of RAM by Corsair VENGEANCE LPX at 3200MHz, and uses Intel UHD Graphics 620 for Windows 10 64-bit.
