your dell laptop struggles with performance in games such as gta vice city. your system specs are: dell inspiron 5502, intel i5-1135g7, 11 generation core, 2.40ghz base, 1.38ghz boost, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd, nvidia geforece mx330 gpu (latest drivers). when playing gta v it runs smoothly for about 20 seconds at 60fps, then drops to 10-20 fps afterward. the gpu temperature stays around 68°c, but its max temp is capped. the frequency drops to 139mhz and power falls to 8 watts, which you can temporarily fix with asus gpu tweak 111. your cpu also shows issues—its frequency drops to 400mhz and power usage is 8 watts, possibly due to a cooling pad. it might help to temporarily throttle the system.
To avoid overheating and damage, certain software may temporarily bypass these restrictions, but eventually a hardware boundary will activate to protect the device. Inspect the laptop’s cooling vents; dust buildup over time can hinder airflow, making cleaning or replacing thermal paste beneficial. Cooling pads offer limited assistance, particularly when internal airflow to the GPU or CPU isn’t sufficient.
The cooling pad works best when the laptop stays on an obstructed area. On a flat surface such as a desk, it offers no benefit. If replacement is feasible, consider changing the thermal paste. Otherwise, beyond basic dust removal, other solutions don’t exist.
CPU temperatures during full load seem typical, but I suspect the GPU might be the issue.
