I have been using a computer since DOS days and was doing fine with Windows 10 until recently when I upgraded it to Windows 11. It started saving all files automatically to OneDrive, which is not what I want. Now the files in my folders seem to disappear or won't open properly because they are being moved there instead of staying on my PC. This feels very annoying and stressful. I used to love knowing about computers but now I just want to use a PC normally and keep all files safe on my own desktops. I already have a NAS for storage, but it still seems like OneDrive is taking over everything without asking. If I save a few JPG pictures to a folder on the desktop, they suddenly show up in the cloud instead of staying local on my machine. This feels wrong and scary. Is there a way to stop this? Should I just reinstall Windows 11 to make it work differently? How can I get some of these files back or fix them so My Desktop is truly mine again and not shared with OneDrive?

You might start by typing into OneDrive to get your files before doing anything else.

I tried to fix it, but my computer and the rest of my stuff are all connected to OneDrive. And I've lost files now. This sucks hard. They're taking over my PC for their own good. They really want me to pay to play. Because I've lost very important files now. I am so mad. At this point, I think I should try reinstalling Windows with a clean start that will unlink OneDrive from everything 😡 But my product key for MS Office was in a notepad file and it is gone among many other things 😡😡 Freakin' MS.

LibreOffice comes with no cost and can both open and save Microsoft Office documents. However, when it comes to reading specific files or syncing with services like OneDrive, I often need to completely remove LibreOffice and set up OneDrive fresh. It seems the process of getting those features working is a bit messy for me.
