I’m trying to learn LoL but the rules feel unfamiliar. I’ve played strategy games before, but this one has its own system. Any advice for beginners wanting to start?

I agree. Avoid responding if you're not ready to accept criticism from your team.

Avoid giving input and check build guides for the character you're using.

I've never tried LOL, I used to play Dota 2 but stopped because it wasn't that simple to grasp.

I enjoy playing lol a lot and discovered how to do it by watching many streams and videos.

You have a level 30 account, play it rarely, then abandon it because of the chaotic gaming scene. Like individuals swarming with characters that thrive in lanes, or those who explode when you land the decisive hit, shouting "omg killstealer noob" and then lurking in the spawn to trashpost the rest of the game. Or you feed the opposing team.

Focus on experimenting during early matches. Try as many champions as you can to discover your style and understand their powers. Avoid talking to others unless you're comfortable; mute them at the start if needed. Keep your IP points on tier 3 runes and champions. Don't spend them on lower-tier items. Stay patient—learning is tough, so enjoy playing with friends. Solo play isn't ideal for extended sessions.

If you're considering joining LoL, I recommend having at least one companion to explore it together. This helps reduce the pressure while learning, clarifies teamwork dynamics, and makes the experience much more enjoyable. To grasp how the game functions, you'll encounter several tutorials if you create a new account—especially if you play through them—and you'll find recommended champion builds in the store. As your skills improve, you can experiment with custom builds or look to mobafire for popular champion setups (http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/browse). Once you're comfortable, focus on saving your IP after level 15 until you hit level 20, then invest in tier 3 runes. After that, purchase a full page for the champion type you prefer. Lastly, feel free to try other MOBA titles like Dota 2 or HoN if your friends are interested—they each offer unique experiences.
