I played it using Game Time and found it enjoyable. Usually I don’t like PvP games, but the cactus stood out as really strong.

I attempted to play it during game time. There were no active servers in the AU region at all—just silence, with no players online.

He keeps asking to play games, but it's tough to get him beyond EA NHL and TF2 since he's banned from those titles at home. I'm unsure if I should spend money on something he might not enjoy. It could be a nice Christmas gift, but I'm worried about wasting it if he doesn't play it. Maybe I'll ask him again later. Right now, for Christmas, I'd rather keep my budget tight.
