I recently assembled my initial PC about a week ago. It features an Asus ROG Strix Z390-E motherboard and an RTX 2080S graphics card. The system boots normally, but the VGA indicator lights up and forces a restart after power-on to switch it off. The GPU is recognized, and all games perform well with current drivers. I’m puzzled why this light activates and requires a restart each time I turn it on. This is my first post—please let me know if you need more details.
If it is running fine then you have nothing to worry about. The light staying is probably just due to a bug in the UEFI or something. You could test if it stays off if you disable Windows Fast Startup (under Control Panel > Power Options > Change what the power buttons do).
You're experiencing the same problem with your motherboard again. After adjusting the fast startup settings in power options, the VGA light remains on. Everything functions properly during gaming and video editing, but restarting the PC every day is frustrating due to the persistent VGA light. I'm looking for a solution to this issue.
Hello everyone, I’m using an Intel Core I7-10700k with a Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X and Gigabyte Rtx 2070 Super, running 32GB of RAM. The PC boots normally and all games perform well with updated drivers. However, the VGA Light stays active until I restart to turn it off. Fast boot settings were adjusted and helped temporarily, but it’s now recurring. Anyone have suggestions or alternatives?
For those who struggle with this thread, I recently switched to an Asus Z490-F and encountered a problem where the GPU wouldn<|pad|> to not function in BIOS/UEFI, though the VGA light stayed on and the OS booted normally. After searching, I discovered an NVIDIA GRAPHICS FIRMWARE UPDATE TOOL for DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 displays, which resolved the issue. It seems that displays using DisplayPort on Nvidia cards 7xx-1000 and/or Quadro cards based on Maxwell/Pascal might experience this, and updating the card firmware could help. This worked for my EVGA 1080ti FTW3 Hybrid, which didn’t have the problem before. Let me know if this helps!
I have the same issue. I noticed the display light stays on when using DisplayPort, but it turns off when I use HDMI. I thought it might be related to the DisplayPort. I own a GTX 1080 and will try the tool.
I used the tool yesterday. It fixed the issue temporarily. Now the light is back... Any suggestions?
