White highlight scrolls during startup on USB boot device
Hello everyone, I’m hoping you’re prepared for something unexpected. Recently, I attempted a full factory reset on my PC for several reasons. Even though I used the Windows 11 Settings app to clear everything, the process didn’t complete as expected. After rebooting, instead of the usual setup screen, I saw a locked window displaying my username—‘Matthew Bowker’—and noticed it lacked a profile picture. When I tried to log in with my password, I received an error: “The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.”
Since this was the only administrator account and no other users were present before the reset, I’m wondering if there’s no way to access Windows or create a new user account from here. The second problem is that I can’t boot from any drives. Normally I’d quickly switch to another machine, but in this case, I’ve tried four to five USB drives and various tools like Mac Terminal, Boot Camp Assistant, and Rufus—each time hitting f12 during boot shows a black screen with a flashing underscore.
From what I understand, this error suggests my drive is damaged, but after testing multiple options, I feel it’s not just the drive itself. I’m hoping someone can guide me through a clean Windows installation, maybe download Deep Rock and dive into space rock battles while playing Dwarfs! If you have any advice, I’d really appreciate it.
Also, please accept my sincere apology for the awkward tone—I might crack under pressure and smash my keyboard over the monitor. Thanks in advance, everyone.
The BIOS is set up correctly and there are no EFI or secure boot configurations active. Consider verifying hardware connections or consulting the manufacturer's documentation.
