Hey everyone, I put together a new PC and noticed a coil whine noise. I’m not sure if it’s coming from the power supply unit or the graphics card, especially since my stock CPU cooler makes a similar sound but isn’t the source. The specs look like a decent build—Ryzen 5, Sapphire Nitro GPU with an RTX 570, 8GB RAM, and an MSI Magician B450M-K II. I heard the PSU is likely the culprit, but it’s hard to tell without testing. If you’re still unsure, replacing the PSU might be a safe bet.

Coil whine is rarely considered a proper reason for an RMA. If your item is still within the return window, it might be possible to send it back. You didn’t share much detail, so it’s unclear what happened while you experienced the sounds.

Playing games. Audio becomes clearer when the GPU draws more power or during high-performance launches with 2K resolution.

It’s probably the graphics card.

I experienced PSU coil whine before. The noise appeared consistently, especially when the GPU consumed more power or during high-performance gaming sessions with 2K resolution.
